TRANSFORMATIONS

In London, at the same time, from 1998 to 2001 funded by St Katherine and Shadwell Trust, we set up the Transformation programme, in partnership with the National Theatre Education Department in 12 primary schools in Tower Hamlets, working with a single cohort of children as they progressed from Year 4 through to Year 6, looking at the impact of creative workshops and performance on reading and maths attainment, creative writing and self-identity. The project culminated at performances at the People's Palace, with a final presentation at the National Theatre.

Aim:
To examine the impact of creative workshops and performance on reading and mathematics attainment, progress, creative writing and self-identity.

Main Activities:
Workshops with cohorts of children from 12 Tower Hamlets schools as they progressed from Year 4 to Year 6 culminating in performances at People's Palace, London and presentation at National Theatre.
