THEATRE AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCES

In 1998 and 1999, we ran international conferences on Theatre and Social Development at the People's Palace in London and the Teatro Glória in Rio de Janeiro, in association with the British Council. These involved speakers from UNESCO, the World Bank, the Ford Foundation, Comic Relief, the UK Department for International Development, alongside artists and activists from a range of organisations. In Brazil, the conferences included performances by two arts-based companies that were emerging from Rio's favelas, Grupo Cultural AfroReggae and Nós do Morro, who have remained long-standing collaborators of PPP's ever since.
