Current Projects - Favela to the World

Favela to the WorldFavela to the World

Favela to the World is a six-year programme of specially commissioned performances and of seminars and trainings here in the UK led by Grupo Cultural AfroReggae, People's Palace Projects and Barbican BITE.

AfroReggae work within the poorest and most violent communities in Rio de Janeiro with one clear aim: to take young people out of the drug trade through arts-based activities. Their work and visits here to the UK are an inspiration for arts and non-arts agencies and organisations who have come together in the UK AfroReggae Partnership to run a sustained programme of involvement for young people at risk of gun and gang crime, and seminars and trainings to secure a unique legacy for the project overall.

Favela to the World is made possible by an extraordinary and growing body of partners and funders both in the UK and Brazil.
